One week after debuting âChampagne Nightâ during NBCâs prime-time series Songland on April 13, Lady Antebellum announced that the tune will serve as the trioâs new single.
Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady A served as the guests artists on Season 2/Episode 1 of Songland, which gives four songwriters the chance to have one of their original tunes produced by a mentorâShane McAnally, Ester Dean or Ryan Tedderâand recorded by the guest artists.
Singer/songwriter Madeline Merlo penned the episodeâs winning song, âChampagne Night,â with Lady A and Shane McAnally. âChampagne Night,â which is the first song from the prime-time series to become a radio single, impacted country radio on April 20.
âWe had a blast bringing this song to life for our episode,â said Hillary Scott. âWe started the process of the song over the winter in a very different time and headspace. But now, with everything going on, itâs almost like that little dose of exactly what I need right nowâa light and fun little reminder to enjoy the simpler moments.â
The announcement likely means the end of Lady Aâs single, âWhat Iâm Leaving For,â which is currently No. 39 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart after nine weeks. Penned by Sam Ellis, Micah Premnath and Laura Veltz, âWhat Iâm Leaving Forâ is featured on Lady Aâs 2019 album, Ocean, and followed the release of lead single, âWhat If I Never Get Over You.â
